Competition winners, welcomed properly.
We ran a giveaway on our socials recently, and this month the winners came to collect their prize the only way we know how to give one: at the table, on a sold-out Saturday edition of the tour.
They met us at Prince of Peckham at 1pm like everybody else, collected their tour passports, and were two akara into the afternoon before anyone remembered they had technically won something rather than booked it.
The route did its usual work. Chef Kolawole Ajayi’s suya produced the strongest opinions of the day, all of them favourable and several of them loud, and the fresh sugarcane juice from Pure Cane arrived at exactly the right moment afterwards. By the time the group sat down to Banga soup at Delta Tavern, the winners had stopped being winners and started being regulars, swapping numbers and making plans.
We closed the way we like to: something sweet, a toast at Eko Brewery, and branded goody bags handed over with the tote bags you can see getting a proper outing in the photo. At least one winner has already rebooked with friends, which is the best review we could ask for, and fits the pattern of the 5.0 our guests have given us on Tripadvisor.
