This neighbourhood is not the backdrop to our tour. It is the reason the tour exists: one of the most vibrant West African communities in Europe, layered into the streets of SE15.
How Nigeria came to SE15.
From the mid-twentieth century onwards, waves of West African migration, led by Nigerians and predominantly Yoruba families, made Peckham home. They opened shops, kitchens, tailors, churches and markets, and built the neighbourhood people now call Little Lagos.
Walk Rye Lane today and you can hear it, smell it and taste it. That living history is the spine of our route.

It is a Yoruba invitation you will hear at family tables across Nigeria and Peckham alike. Not a request, not a suggestion: a welcome. On tour you will pick up greetings, food words and the meaning behind the diacritics in our own name.

One of London’s great high streets: fabric shops, butchers, grocers stacked with yam and plantain, and stallholders who have served three generations.

Family-run kitchens, breweries and juice presses. The businesses on our route are the neighbourhood’s beating heart, and they are part of the story we tell.

Afrobeats spilling from doorways, Yoruba art on the walls and a creative scene that keeps remixing tradition into something new.

Peckham is home first and a destination second. We keep groups small, spend our money with the independents we visit, credit every maker by name and tell the culture’s stories with pride rather than novelty.
